Privacy Policy

1. Overview

ChartRead is a Chrome browser extension that analyzes candlestick chart images using AI to identify trading patterns. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Data We Collect

Local device data (never leaves your device):

• Scan history — chart thumbnails, pattern results, ticker tags, and outcome markings stored locally in Chrome's storage API
• API key — your Pro or Elite subscription key stored locally in Chrome's sync storage
• Usage preferences — settings you configure within the extension

Server data (sent to our backend for analysis only):

• Chart image — a cropped screenshot of the chart area you select, sent to our server solely to perform AI pattern analysis. This image is not stored after analysis is complete.
• Ticker symbol — an optional text label you provide (e.g. "AAPL"), sent with the image to improve analysis context
• API key — sent with each request to verify your subscription tier
• IP address — logged temporarily for rate limiting free users. Not stored long-term.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identification
• We do not track your browsing history or the websites you visit
• We do not store chart images after analysis is complete
• We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties
• We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes
• We do not use your data for any purpose unrelated to chart pattern analysis

4. Third-Party Services

• Anthropic Claude API — processes chart images for AI analysis. Subject to Anthropic's privacy policy
• Stripe — processes subscription payments. We never see or store your payment card details. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy
• SendGrid — used solely to deliver your API key by email after purchase. Subject to SendGrid's privacy policy

5. Data Storage and Security

• All local data is stored in Chrome's built-in storage API on your device
• Server communication uses HTTPS encryption
• API keys are masked in the UI and stored securely
• We do not operate a user account system — no passwords or profiles

6. Your Rights

You can delete all local data at any time by:

• Clicking "Clear all" in the History page to delete scan history
• Clicking "Remove key" in Settings to delete your API key
• Uninstalling the extension, which removes all locally stored data

7. Children's Privacy

ChartRead is intended for adults engaged in financial trading activities. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 18.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.
